Rob is Roger&Sons’s master woodworker. His philosophy towards making furniture involves finding the balance between form and function. He believes in crafting furniture that’s aesthetically appealing without sacrificing functionality — often using bold, simple shapes with a great emphasis on finish and attention to detail.
He’s had a lifetime of experience, working with people from all fields, from building artists’ installations, to helping architects and designers execute their concepts. His expertise lies in antique restoration, carving, gilding, french polishing, set building, model making, joinery, and bespoke kitchen making and fitting.
Growing up, Rob’s biggest influence was his father: “My earliest memories working with wood are in my fathers antique restoration workshop, aged around four years old making airplanes and boats out of whatever I could find lying around.”
Scottish by birth, Rob lived in London for a couple of years before relocating to Singapore to be with his wife. He also loves 50s & 60s furniture design, and 80s California surf and skate culture. Oh, and HE WRITES IN ALL CAPS.
